Youth adventure specialist Contiki has expanded its active trips portfolio with the launch of three new small-group tours in Nepal.
Kelly Jackson, EMEA managing director, said the additions follow findings in the operator’s 2025 Voice of a Generation report, which found that more than half of the respondents surveyed said a mix of experiences on holiday isn’t a ‘nice to have’ – it’s essential.
“We’re seeing a real shift in how Gen Z and millennial travellers define a great holiday,” she said.
“They are telling us they want to be active and explore, connect more authentically with local cultures and ultimately return home feeling refreshed and rejuvenated.
“These new trips tap into that – from hiking through the spiritual hub of the Himalayas to visiting a 2,000-year-old temple.
“They blend adventure, local tradition and meaningful connection to create an experience that stays with you.”
The launch also follows a notable rise in demand for hiking-focused trips among Contiki’s core audience of travellers aged 18 to 35.
Two-thirds of respondents in the same survey named hiking as their top type of active trip, with nearly a quarter of respondents citing Nepal as a top destination for this type of travel.
Kathmandu, Chitwan & Hiking is a 10-day itinerary that explores Nepal’s capital, Chitwan National Park and sacred sites such as Namobuddha. It costs from £1,105.
