Railbookers has designed a new Stay and Explore Collection in Europe for travellers who want to experience destinations without frequently changing hotels.
The 11 itineraries are built around extended stays in one central city, with day trips to surrounding destinations.
Andrew Channell, senior product vice-president, said: “We developed the Stay and Explore Collection in response to guest feedback and demand – for travellers seeking a diverse array of experiences while returning to the comfort and convenience of the same hotel each night.
“These trips feature expertly-selected daytime experiences and allow our guests to immerse themselves in the culture of iconic European cities by night.”
The hub cities are London; Avignon, Lyon, Paris and Reims in France; Munich in Germany; Rome, Florence and Venice in Italy; Edinburgh and Inverness in Scotland; Barcelona, Spain; and Zurich, Switzerland.
Experiences feature palace and castle visits, culinary tours and wine tastings, ancient ruins and historic architecture, and excursions to smaller cities and towns that showcase European life.
Most day trips include short train rides from each hub city, and all Stay and Explore itineraries can be tailored by adding nights, activities or destinations within the trip, or combining with other Railbookers journeys.
Prices start at £669 for the nine-day Stay and Explore France: Culture, Cuisine, and Provence by Rail holiday.
It features Eurostar travel from London to Paris then on to Lyon for a five-night stay. Clients will have day trips to Beaune, Annecy and Vienne, then move on for two nights in Avignon. After day trips to Arles and Nimes, they will return to London via Paris.
