A&K launches expanded Expedition Mountaineering range

Abercrombie & Kent has launched an expanded collection of trips dedicated to Expedition Mountaineering.

The luxury operator’s guided Ultra Luxury expeditions range includes trips to the Himalayas, the Alps and the Andes.

Accommodation is at exclusive mobile camps and an expedition chef will cook meals for guests.

The programme offers the chance to summit a volcano that is the furthest point from the centre of the earth; search for snow leopards; hear music from local performers and fireside stories from adventurers; heli-ski, have a picnic on a glacier, skydive, quad bike and more.

Destinations include the Swiss Alps, with expeditions ranging from challenging Matterhorn summits to gentle hikes; Indian Himalaya, with hikes through its mountain passes to remote settlements such as Leh, and in search of rare wildlife.

Ecuador’s Avenue of Volcanoes is also offered. Highlights include Cotopaxi to Chimborazo, which are still volcanically active. Ecuador mountaineering expeditions can be paired with a visit to the Galápagos Islands.

Kerry Golds, group managing director, said: “A&K was born out of a love of exploring when almost 60 years ago, Geoffrey Kent, in a rebellious teenage mood, rode a motorbike from Nairobi to Cape Town. From day one, A&K has strived to deliver experiences, not just ‘humble holidays’.

“More and more people are discovering climbing as a way to reconnect with others in the great outdoors. Boosting physical and mental wellbeing are obvious benefits, but we’re finding that people want to re-embrace with the natural world after too much time spent inside.

“Dream big when thinking of your next expedition holiday – we can arrange an array of adrenaline-fuelled activities, from parachuting from helicopters touring by motorcycle to heli-skiing and paragliding.”
