Atas unveils ‘Journey’ theme for annual conference
The Association of Touring and Adventure Suppliers has unveiled “Journey” as the theme for its annual conference, taking place on November 1-2.
The event will be held at a new venue – the British Motor Museum in Warwickshire – and will feature expert speakers, networking opportunities and two evening social gatherings.
Claire Brighton, Atas account director, said: “The concept of ‘Journey’ covers all areas of our broad range of members.
“It fits perfectly as it could mean an excursion, jaunt, tour, voyage, trip, trek or expedition – every one of the holidays sold by our members will involve some sort of journey, whether that is by foot or in a vehicle – or in the air, or by land or sea.
“Also, the wider travel industry and our touring and adventure sector are on a journey of recovery as we look to the extensive opportunities of travel in 2023 and beyond.”

She added: “The concept of a journey can also be applied to the client’s journey, from browsing, choosing and booking a touring and adventure holiday – as well as an agent’s journey, from discovering the sector, learning how to sell it and how to specialise in the types of trips on offer.
“Our delegates heading to the conference will all be on a journey to success – and we look forward to seeing them there.”
Last year’s conference in Birmingham attracted a record 350 delegates.
Organisers for this year’s event have arranged for delegates to have two nights’ accommodation on a bed-and-breakfast basis at nearby hotels in either Warwick or Leamington Spa, with coach transfers between the conference hotels and venue.
The conference package has been subsidised by Atas and its members, meaning that the agent contribution is just £50 per person.
Agents can contact Lisa Cothonay on lisa.cothonay@jacobsmediagroup.com to discuss accommodation needs.
