Back-Roads Touring caters for foodies in Asia

Small group touring specialist Back-Roads Touring has added fresh culinary experiences to tours in its new Asia brochure.

The 2019/20 brochure features four tours across Thailand, Cambodia and Vietnam, each with improved itineraries plus new foodie excursions to cater for growing consumer demand.

The Wonders of Thailand tour now includes a visit to a tea plantation where guests can pluck Assam tea leaves and learn the art of making tea by hand.

The Vietnam and Cambodia Discovery holiday has a new private cooking class at Luke Nguyen’s GRAIN cooking studio in Ho Chi Minh City.

Ed Pettitt, Back-Roads Touring global general manager, Ed Pettitt, said: “The new brochure and revised itineraries have been designed with our new and loyal travellers in mind, with customer feedback playing a huge role in the tours’ innovation.

“We know our customers want to spend sufficient time exploring each destination at their own leisure, therefore the adjusted timings of our itineraries will allow us to provide a more relaxed travel experience.”

Locally-owned boutique accommodation has also been upgraded on several tours.

Pettitt added: “The revised Wonders of Thailand will now see guests stay at the charming Sibsan Resort in northern Chiang Mai, while the Flavours of Vietnam tour group will now be staying at the stunning Pilgrimage Village Boutique Resort & Spa during their time at Hue.”

The 12-day Vietnam & Cambodia Discovery tour costs from £2,499 per person, and includes 11 nights’ accommodation and some meals.

The 13-day Wonders of Thailand tour starts at £2,249 per person, including 12 nights’ accommodation and some meals.

The tours do not include flights from the UK.

To support trade bookings, Back-Roads Touring is offering a 5% discount on 2019/20 Asia brochure prices but only if booked through a travel agent by January 31.
