Coach holiday specialist Leger Shearings Group has declared a record week for sales in the seven days to May 1 ahead of price increases.

The best sales week in the group’s history saw bookings rise 11% on the previous top week for bookings achieved in January.

The record was set for Leger Holidays and Shearings sales combined. Leger’s sales alone were the brand’s best sales week since before the pandemic.

Leger Shearings Group chief executive Liam Race said: “We were very transparent in telling our customers that we sadly, in line with most travel companies, were having to raise our prices on May 2.

“The increase was due to many factors, including the price of fuel. Customers certainly ensured they got their bookings in before the price increase.”

He added: “Pleasingly, it was also the best week ever for travel agent sales year to date.

“Sales have remained strong with holidays promoted by our TV advert, which is currently being aired across many TV channels. The ad includes a ‘contact your travel agent’ call to action.

“To soften the blow of the price increase we have re-introduced, for a limited period, the Shearings £1pp low deposit, with nothing to pay until six weeks before departure.”

Leger Holidays acquired the Shearings brand in June 2020 with the combined group established in January 2021.
