Five travel agencies win Wendy’s Den marketing competition

Wendy Wu Tours has named the travel agency winners of its Wendy’s Den campaign.

Five agencies, rather than the three originally planned have been handed marketing support worth £1,000, after a “huge response” to the tour operator’s initiative, launched last month.

The winning agencies were chosen by Wendy Wu Tours’ business development managers.

Idelo Travel, in Ipswich, impressed with its plans for a social media campaign encouraging customers to sign up to a recipe box for the operator’s European destinations and Vietnam and an incentive whereby customers who book are entered into a draw to win a ‘European night out on us’ worth up to £100.

The operator said the idea “showed great creativity to offer something very new and different”.

Eton Travel Group, in Eton, was chosen for its plan to offer a cross-channel campaign including window takeovers, YouTube videos, blogs, posts on Facebook, Twitter, Instagram , and TikTok  a dedicated website page and local magazine print advertising.

Hanson Travel Worldchoice, in Pudsey, West Yorkshire, impressed with its plan to attract garden enthusiasts, foodies, outdoor lovers and animal lovers by focusing on the “unique experiences” in Wendy Wu Tours’ new European range.

Travel Counsellors agent Lizzie Adamson-Brown won with her plan to create a “four-week splash” of using Wendy Wu Tours collateral with an emphasis on Europe and Vietnam, and involving fellow Travel Counsellors homeworkers.

Cassidy Travel chose four specific European holidays offered by Wendy Wu Torus to promote across its nine shops on in-store windows, TVs, websites and Facebook pages – and plans to package them up with flights under its own bonding licence. Judges said the agency’s enthusiasm “shone through”.
