G Adventures resumes sailing tours in hurricane-hit British Virgin Islands

G Adventures has relaunched sailing tours from the British Virgin Islands, which were hit badly by Hurricane Irma in the autumn.

The seven-day Sailing the British Virgin Islands trip will relaunch on February 3 in a bid to support local tourism.

Sailing from, and returning to, the island of Tortola on a 47ft catamaran, the tour includes snorkelling in caves, swimming with turtles, cycling around volcanic and time on shore at Guana Island, Virgin Gorda island, Cooper Island, Anegada Island and Jost Van Dyke.

It is designed for travellers will all levels of sailing experience and aims to offer an authentic island experience.

“Now is the perfect time to visit the BVIs,” said Vince Donnelly, global sailing manager, G Adventures. “Locals are excited to welcome visitors, restaurants are open for business and, with less tourists around, travellers can enjoy the relaxed local atmosphere, natural sites and wildlife without the crowds.

“This tour has a Chief Experience Officer (CEO) who knows the islands like the back of his hand, meaning travellers get to see the hidden haunts and hotspots from across this sunny stretch of islands.”
