Great Rail Journeys introduces 'intimate' tours range

Trips appealing to mature age holidaymakers who love rail travel and escorted group touring but want to do it in a more intimate way have been introduced by Great Rail Journeys.

The Exclusive Small Group Tours programme of eight tours enables agents to offer a small groups tour option to customers.

The concept involves taking people to more remote and lesser known places throughout the UK and Europe, staying in accommodation with individual character.

The range of tours will never top 20 people and will cover more off-the-beaten-track locations, according to the operator.

Private dining, hands-on experiences and access to places not possible when travelling in a larger group are included, while the core focus will remain rail travel.

Small group tours for 2019 cover Italy, Switzerland and France as well as Wales, Scotland and England with prices starting at £695 per person.

Head of trade sales, Lindsay Dixon, said: “We know that lots of holidaymakers believe ‘people make places’ and that some of the best experiences are the ones shared with newly-made friends on a tour.

“The small groups enhance that personal experience for our customers.

“The exciting new itineraries also allow customers to venture further afield and further into a destination as we’re now going places and offering things that have never been in the tour programmes previously.”
