Headwater adds two trips with a culinary theme in Tuscany
Walking and cycling specialist Headwater has introduced two holidays in Tuscany which include a culinary experience.
The new seven night holidays are based in Chianciano Terme, a spa town near the vineyards of the Valdichiana and the Unesco World Heritage site Val d’Orcia.
The trips include walking or cycling, or both, with accommodation at the 15 room Agriturismo La Pietriccia, an authentic ‘slow food’ farmhouse which has a private winery, outdoor swimming pool, terraces and orchards. The majority of the food provided at the farmhouse is produced on site with the rest from local artisan suppliers.
Owner and chef Stefano Mazzeti runs a three hour cookery course for guests and offers olive oil and wine tastings.
The trips also include the chance to visit the world-famous wine town of Montepulciano, try cheese in Pienza or visit the ancient thermal baths in Bagno Vignoni.
The moderate level walking holiday and the moderate level cycling trip depart on Saturdays from May 5 until October 27 and cost from £999 for the walking tour, and from £1,049 for the cycling tour, excluding flights.
Prices include half board hotel accommodation and four course evening meals, detailed route notes, maps, transfers and bikes.
