Intrepid expands in North America as Canada sales surge 150% in a year

Intrepid Travel has expanded its US and Canada range for 2018.

The programme features more than 24 itineraries and follows a 150% rise in Canada bookings over the past year.

The adventure operator recently announced plans to double its carbon offsetting on all trips to the US in response to President Donald Trump’s withdrawal from the Paris climate agreement.

The increased commitment to supporting sustainable tourism in the US applies to Intrepid’s new range of 2018 trips. These include a 12-day US & Canada Discovery Winter trip, featuring Christmas in New York, ice skating in Ottawa and a snowshoe hike in Vermont, leading in at £2,782.

A six-day Vancouver Island tour starts at £870.

Intrepid managing director Michael Edwards said: “With its pristine wilderness and friendly people, Canada has always been popular, but the [Canada prime minister] Justin Trudeau effect has made it even cooler this year.

“These new trips let travellers experience the magic of a North American winter like a true local.”
