National Travel Agent Day to take place as planned this weekend
National Travel Agent Day will now take place this weekend as originally planned, after organisers had revealed plans to move it back to September.
Intrepid Travel announced earlier today (July 18) it would stage the event on September 8 this year to give more people the chance to take part, but has now decided it will take place as planned on July 22 after companies contacted it to say they had organised activities.
In an updated statement, the tour operator, which launched the celebration in 2020 as a way of recognising and celebrating the work of travel agents, said it would move the event to September from 2024 instead.
Hazel McGuire, UK and Europe general manager, said: “We have been moved by messages today telling us how much activity is already planned for National Travel Agent Day this weekend.
“Having said all along the event was not an Intrepid day but an industry day, we have made the decision that the show must go on.
“As a result, our initial decision to move the date to September will now take effect from next year, after taking account feedback that the July date wasn’t as easy to accommodate now travel is back.
“We look forward to celebrating agents with offers this weekend, on July 22.”
