Saga tipped to unveil VIP membership scheme

Saga is expected to unveil details of a VIP-style membership scheme this week.

The over-50s travel and insurance company plans to launch a concierge-style concept offering customers “VIP access” to events and “money can’t buy” experiences as it fights to adapt to the changing lifestyles of its core customers.

The scheme is due to be announced alongside half-year results on Friday as Saga pushes to keep hold of its highest spending clients, the Sunday Telegraph reported.

The programme includes after-hours private tours and champagne receptions aimed at “high affinity” customers who spend around £1,900 on a holiday.

A deal with US technology giant Apple so that it can offer discounts to its new members on certain products is also to be revealed, sources added.

Saga’s revenues for the six months to the end of July are expected to come in at £511 million, up by 16.9% year-on-year.
