Silversea Cruises appoints new vice-president of expedition product development

Silversea Cruises has recruited a new vice-president of expedition product development to join its team.

Bob Simpson will report into senior vice-president of expeditions, destination and itinerary management, Conrad Combrink, and will be responsible for overseeing the implementation of the company’s expedition product strategy, the line said.

Silversea added that various regulatory and destination stakeholders would work alongside Simpson as he helped deliver expeditions on Silversea’s five expedition vessels.

Simpson has been involved in expedition cruising since 1998 including almost 20 years as vice-president of expedition cruising at Abercrombie & Kent.

In these roles, Simpson actively worked with a wide range of stakeholders and was deeply involved in tourism management, environmental protection, safety, and community engagement.

Combrink said: “With a career that has spanned decades and a wealth of expertise, few in the industry can match Bob’s knowledge of the fast-growing expedition cruise industry.

“Bob’s innovative approach and enthusiasm for delivery unique experiences will enhance our unparalleled expedition offering.”

Simpson added: “I look forward to working with some of the best in the industry to offer our guests incredible experiences in some of the most far-flung corners of the earth.”
