Vietnam extends visa waiver scheme for Brits by a year
A visa exemption scheme for UK passport holders travelling to Vietnam has been extended by a year.
The arrangement allows for single entry stays of up to 15 days and will run until June 30, 2018.
The Vietnamese government first introduced the relaxation of visa rules for travellers from the UK, France, Germany, Spain and Italy in July 2015.
More than five million people visited the country in the first five months of the year, a 26.8% rise on the same period in 2016, according to the Vietnam National Administration of Tourism.
The World Travel & Tourism Council has forecast that Vietnam’s annual tourism revenues will rise by another six per cent in the next decade to $17.9 billion.
Vietnam Airlines runs the only non-stop flights between the UK and Vietnam, with a daily Boeing 787-9 Dreamliner service to either Hanoi or Ho Chi Minh City with return fares starting at £462.
