Wendy Wu Tours director to run his 19th marathon

Wendy Wu Tours’ deputy managing director John Warr is to run his 19th marathon on Sunday.

Warr, who was promoted in March following the departure of Laurence Hicks, is raising funds for deafblind charity Sense for a third time and has already amassed £670 towards his £1,500 target.

He will be hitting the tarmac in London for the 14th time having also run four New York marathons and one in Copenhagen.

Warr, who is planning on running one more marathon to make his total 20, said: “I don’t consider myself to be particularly fit, but I need a physical goal throughout the year and I love the prospect of having a fundraising target and chasing it down.

“I think I have raised more than £300k over the years. I just do the running, the thanks needs to go to everybody who puts their hands in their pocket year after year, and if anyone hasn’t supported in the past then this would be a good place to start.”

His previous efforts have raised money for The British Heart Foundation because his daughter has a heart condition as well as Cancer Research UK and the Thomas Cook Children’s Charity when he worked for the operator.
