Wendy Wu Tours extends Japan range as demand surges

Wendy Wu Tours has released its new Japan collection for 2019-20 following a “huge spike” in interest in the country.

A new 11-day Highlights of Japan is Wendy Wu Tours’ first tour for solo travellers. Priced from £5,290, it features Osaka, the holy mountain of Koya-san, Kyoto and Tokyo. Highlights include a traditional tea ceremony, meditation, a bullet train ride, Mount Fuji and a Lake Ashi cruise.

Other new tours include 17-day Japan Uncovered, from £6,490, Wendy Wu’s “most extensive tour of Japan to date”, taking in Osaka, Hiroshima, the Japanese Alps, Mount Fuji and Tokyo and a bullet train ride to Kyoto. May and September departures include entrance to a sumo wrestling tournament.

Also new is the eight-day all-inclusive A Week in Japan from Tokyo to Osaka via Mount Fuji and Nara, from £3,790.

Other new tours include the 13-day Trails of Japan from £5,490 from Wendy Wu’s Go Beyond range, its best-selling 11-day Jewels of Japan, from £4,990, and, for 2020, the 12-day Sapporo and Snow Monkeys tour from £4,990.

Global sales director John Warr said the operator’s “outstanding growth” in Japan helped it reach its best-ever revenue figure in 2018.

He added: “We’ve expanded our range of tour styles to include Classic, Go Beyond, Private Tours and, for the first time, new solo tours. This will suit all travellers, from those who prefer a more leisurely pace, to those looking to venture off the beaten track and see sights rarely witnessed by other travellers. Our team is skilled in creating bespoke and personal itineraries for every possible type of holiday to Japan.”

Free one-way premium economy upgrades on Cathay Pacific are available on departures between January 2019 and April 2020, when booked before August 30. Extensions and stopovers are available in South Korea, China, Hong Kong and Macao.
